Deep-Dive: Pan Glo’s Exclusive AMERICOATⓇ Pan Coating

Looking for a sustainable and durable pan coating solution? Pan Glo’s AMERICOAT silicone pan coating offers a range of benefits designed to improve baking operations by enhancing pan life and reducing the need for secondary release agents. This translates to cost savings and environmental benefits for bakeries aiming for efficiency and sustainability.

What Is AMERICOAT?

AMERICOAT is a silicon-based, non-stick, and non-toxic coating that is applied to baking pans. It is engineered to minimize the sticking of baked products, reducing the need for oils, paper liners, and silicone mats. AMERICOAT also allows for an estimated 300 to 600 releases (depending on bakery conditions and products being produced) before refurbishment, which is up to 30% more than other silicone glazes.

Additionally, pans with AMERICOAT glaze can be refurbished multiple times without damaging the core pan material. This makes the baking process cleaner, more cost-effective, and more sustainable, as pans have to be replaced much less frequently.

AMERICOAT is responsibly manufactured and derived from naturally occurring minerals and complies with all relevant FDA, EU, and other known regulations for food contact. This coating sets the standard for silicone release coatings and is used on all American Pan glazed pans.

Frequently Asked Questions About AMERICOAT

At what temperatures can I use AMERICOAT glazed pans?

AMERICOAT is suitable for frozen products and is applicable at temperatures from -40°C through 240°C (-40°F through 464°F). The maximum recommended peak temperature is 260°C (500°F).

How should AMERICOAT coated pans be cleaned?

The safest cleaning method is “air blowing.” Make sure the air pressure is low and controlled so that it cleans the pan but does not blast seeds, crumbs, cornmeal, or other particles into the pan surface.

To remove any residue after baking, use a damp soft cloth or wash with water at temperatures lower than 60°C/140°F and at low pressure. Use only plain water; do not use chemicals to clean the pans. The use of in-line washers is not recommended for items with AMERICOAT coating.

How should I store AMERICOAT pans?

Coated tins, trays, and lids should not be stored in a non-controlled environment and should be kept away from moisture and humidity. Never store items that are still wet. Coated items that are washed or become wet should be thoroughly dried and stored in a dry location.

Should I use oil with my AMERICOAT pans?

Oil or other release agents may be necessary in applications using AMERICOAT coating. Please advise your Bundy sales representative of the release agent being used to help ensure optimum performance of the pan. Release agents can build-up on pans and may require pans to be cleaned and recoated more often to provide maximum life and release quality.
